Applications in Medical Statistics

Date: 14 - 16 July 2008 Venue: TBC, Sydney

This course is intended to provide an introduction to Bayesian statistics in health economics and cost effectiveness analysis. Throughout the course there will be practical examples to illustrate the methodology presented. Participants must bring their own laptops loaded with Excel and winBUGS. A free download link to winBUGS will be provided on registration. No knowledge of statistical software will be assumed.

Who Should Attend: Health economists and statisticians undertaking health technology assessments who wish to learn about the Bayesian approach to statistics, the role of Bayesian statistics in the analysis of patient level data and decision analytic models, and more advanced Bayesian methods for evidence synthesis. The course is particularly relevant for those required to use probabilistic methods for health technology assessment by reimbursement authorities. The course is structured using a mixture of tutorials and practical sessions using the Microsoft Excel and WinBUGS software packages. Registration: For more information or to register please download the information flyer from http://www.arcs.com.au/documents/Bayesian_Syd_14Jul08.pdf.
